About Ian:

Ian began his career in the fitness industry at the age of 20 after joining his local gym and soon realized that his heart and passion lay within the health and fitness world. Previously Ian worked as a chef but found the career was unfulfilling, after gaining his Level 2 gym instructor qualification, he was given casual work at the same local gym he previously joined and quit his chef job.

From becoming a casual gym instructor, to eventually gym manager, Ian then moved into the specialist population in the exercise referral scheme where he would deal with higher risk clients. These clients generally were referred from their doctors, physiotherapists, nurses etc. for various health issues such as CHD, CVD, weight loss, diabetes, mental, physical impairments etc. He would prescribe physical activity that was not only beneficial to them but also safe by factoring their health status and boundaries.

During his time at the local gym, he met Stephen, who also worked there, they became the best of friends and soon realized they shared the same hunger and ambition within the fitness world. They then decided to form 2B-Fit. What started as a small pipe dream, to now, them being huge players in the industry just shows the drive, passion and determination they have.

Ian’s true passion lies in personal training. He is a great motivator and has excellent people skills which allows him to have a massive success rate. He loves working with people very closely to help improve their relationship with food, body composition, and their overall confidence and self-esteem, this is one of the greatest pleasures he can ask for, to be able to have such a positive influence in a person’s life.

Ian’s Goals and ambitions:

At 2B-Fit we believe in leading by example, Ian truly shows this with his personal goals and ambitions. He is a keen natural bodybuilder, after several years of training, he decided he would compete in his first show in April 2013, the local Atlantis club show. In a lineup of 8 competitors he placed 3rd, what makes this achievement fantastic is that these shows are untested for steroids, and Ian was arguably the only natural competitor on stage.

After getting a taste for competing he decided that to get anywhere within the bodybuilding world that he would have to enter the natural circuit so he joined the British Natural Bodybuilding Federation (BNBF) in 2014. After 16 weeks of contest prep in order to drop the necessary body fat for stage condition and doing the Atlantis show again as a warm up (and placing 3rd again), he placed 1st in the North East Novice category. Unfortunately, Ian didn't go on to compete in the finals of the BNBF due to unforeseeable circumstances.

Ian also uses the same principles that we advise some of our clients to follow in order for him to lose the necessary body fat to become successful. Being an ex-chef and loving food, he knows the importance of creating a positive relationship with food and developing sustainable eating habits.

Ian aims to continue his pursuit of gaining lean muscle, becoming stronger and maintaining health along the way

ian says:

“I believe it's my duty as a coach is to educate our clients on the importance of chasing health, happiness & performance.

I feel our coaching programs are like no other in the area as we strive to empower our clients with the tools they need to have long term results.

It's important to find enjoyment and passion in anything that you do, both in life and in fitness.

Together we can find a challenging and progressive training plan and a sustainable, enjoyable nutrition plan ”

Stephen stopped running whilst at University and became more interested in fitness as a whole, rather than one specific component (cardiovascular endurance). His aim is to become good at all components of fitness, making him a fitter athlete overall. Stephen loves to work hard and challenge himself daily in the gym. He’s currently trying to row 1million meters within a year.

Stephen is known for creating some of the meanest and most brutal sessions you will ever do! This doesn’t mean they are only suited to advanced clients, remember all workouts are scalable by reducing weight lifted, amount of reps etc.  Stephen draws on proven research of HIIT training and his love for variance when planning his sessions and is great at pushing you further than you thought was possible.
